Five white wines every wine lover should know (meet the Queens of white grapes)

So summer has drawn to a close... the days are shorter, the nights longer and white wine in the sunshine seems like a distant memory! HOWEVER, this does not mean that you can not still be transported this winter - sit with your girlfriend, put on a cracking playlist and open a beautiful bottle of crisp white to plan your next vacation!
So we all have a couple of whites we know and love but you may be able to discover a few more.
Here are the top five wines you should know:
Sauvignon Blanc – The Zesty Gossip Queen
She’s crisp, sharp, and always the first to spill the tea. Think gooseberries, lime, and a hint of cut grass. Perfect with seafood or just when you need something fresh to wake you up.
There are many different sauvignon blancs but my go to is New Zealand Marlborough sauvignon blanc. If, like me, you love those unmistakable vivid, tropical fruit flavors and a mouth-watering tang this one is for you. If you're looking for something more restrained that offers better value "down pub" than seek out a Chilean sauvignon blanc.
For a special treat there's always French Sancerre - the spiritual home of Sauvignon blanc. Sancerre feel more structured and subtle compared to the fruit-forward New Zealand style or the softer Chilean style. It's classy and eleganct!
Chardonnay – The Drama Queen
Sometimes she's cool and crisp like a green apple, other times she’s buttery and oaky you never quite know which side you’ll get - but that's what makes her exciting right?
I tend to find that people have a love or hate relationship with Chardonnay - I being one of these until I had my eyes opened into many different types! It took some time but what I discovered is that I like unoaked chardonnays. I still enjoy a bit of drama especially if it's not my own!
Riesling – The Misunderstood Romantic
People think she’s always sweet - wrong! She can be dry, sharp, and elegant, or luscious and honeyed - she’s got the widest emotional range of all the white grapes.
Expect flowers, citrus, and maybe even a little petrol perfume (sounds weird, but it's her signature scent, like Chanel No.5 for wine nerds). She’s the one who pairs beautifully with spicy food.
Pinot Grigio / Pinot Gris – The Girl-Next-Door (with a Secret)
In Italy she’s light, breezy, and citrusy - the type you take to the park. But in Alsace or Oregon? She’s suddenly rich, spicy, and mysterious. Two personalities, both worth knowing.
Pinot Grigio is another go to when I'm out and unsure about how good the wine is! I often fund that Pinot can be a safer bet.
Chenin Blanc – The Shape-Shifter
Sparkling? She can do that. Dry? Absolutely. Sweet and golden? Oh yes, honey. From apple-fresh to silky-rich, Chenin is the versatile friend who somehow fits into every situation.
Like Pinot a Chenin can also be a safer bet!
So which one didn't you know or haven't tried? Comment below wine lovers!
